🔧 The Lightstream Practice

You have just connected with difficult material. Before moving on, let us settle the system.

The Lightstream is an EMDR stabilisation technique that uses imagery and bilateral stimulation to reduce residual body tension after activating work.

The Practice

  • Notice the sensation. Scan your body. Where is there tension, discomfort, or activation? Pick the strongest point. Notice its size, shape, and weight.
  • Give it a colour. If this sensation had a colour, what would it be? Do not think — let the first answer come.
  • Imagine a stream of light. Warm, healing, the colour that feels most soothing to you. Picture it entering the top of your head.
  • Direct it toward the sensation. See the light flowing toward the area of tension. Watch what happens to the sensation’s colour as the light meets it.
  • Allow the colours to change. As the light works, the sensation may shift — in colour, size, intensity. Follow whatever happens. Let it move.
  • Add bilateral stimulation. Slow alternate taps on your knees or crossed over your chest. Continue for 20–30 taps while holding the image.
  • Notice the result. What has changed? Where is the tension now?

Use the Lightstream at the end of any session where you have engaged with activating material. It closes the work and returns the system toward regulation before you go back to daily life.
