Your Trauma History (for Clients in Therapy)
This section is optional. Complete it if you are working with a therapist who has asked you to prepare a trauma history, or if you feel ready to do this work independently with appropriate support in place.
Do not complete this section if you are not currently working with a therapist and your trauma history is extensive, involves significant loss or abuse, or includes material that has previously destabilised you. This level of history-taking requires a safe container. If in doubt, leave it for when you are working with professional support.
The History
Working chronologically through your life, note significant experiences in each category. You do not need to write full narratives — bullet points with brief descriptions are sufficient. Your therapist will explore the details with you.
- Childhood (0–12): Family environment, caregiving quality, school, friendships, any significant events
- Adolescence (12–18): Relationships, identity, significant losses or traumas
- Adulthood: Significant relationships, losses, accidents, assaults, medical events, any experiences that still affect you
After completing this, use the Lightstream and Calm Place before returning to daily life. Close this session deliberately — do not move straight from this material into work or other demands.
