This program was developed by Stephen Jacobs, a registered psychologist in Australia and trained EMDR therapist based in Sydney. He sees clients both in person and via telehealth — practice details at www.emdrtherapy.com.au.
The program draws on years of clinical work and synthesises concepts from:
- EMDR Therapy (Shapiro)
- Polyvagal Theory (Porges)
- Schema Therapy (Young)
- Coherence Therapy and Memory Reconsolidation (Ecker)
- Hypnotherapy
The program is also shaped by Eastern philosophy — particularly mindfulness, and the recognition that suffering often comes not from experience itself, but from resisting it — or from refusing to accept what cannot be changed.
